Review: Boulangerie

Village Baking Co., also known as Boulangerie, is a family owned and operated bakery. They provide fresh baked bread daily that can even be delivered to your doorstep every morning or afternoon. All you have to do is go inside and request a subscription for what you would like to receive and how often. They’re known for their warm and crispy baguettes that they use for their sandwiches, which are only $2.

I walked in and the smell of fresh baked bread and pastries won my heart in a second. I got the jambon beurre sandwich that had ham, cheese and butter on baguette bread which was $8.50. It was a simple sandwich, but the ham had a sort of bitterness that stood out, and the flavors really mixed well with the crumbly bread. For a little dessert, I got the chocolate truffle cake for $4. It had a rich, smooth texture with a slight tartness to it. The prices seemed a little bit expensive but it makes for a good treat. Not being able to understand the French words on the menu was the only thing that I didn’t like about the Boulangerie.

Village Baking Co. also offers other pastries like scones, coconut macaroons, éclairs and more. Coffees, teas and juices are also on the menu. I found the double macchiato was a strong, smooth coffee that definitely woke me up. When I was done, I was satisfied with my meal and the overall aesthetic of the bakery.
