Nini’s Top 10

  1. Emo, pop punk gods Fall Out Boy released a new single on Monday, Sept. 8. According to a short video released by the band on Sept. 4, a morse code message spelled out “Centuries,” the title of the track. Also, the band supposedly filmed a Roman-themed music video for the single in secret that they casted fans for. Honestly, I don’t care what they do. I just want some more Fall Out Boy.
  2. Supergirl, a not-as-popular-character from the Superman/DC Comics franchise, might be getting finally some recognition. Michael Green, producer of “Smallville,” “Heroes” and “Green Lantern,” has already received the OK from DC Entertainment and casting will begin soon.
  3. In a French web-music series where musicians perform stripped down versions of their songs in unusual places, Jack White (ex-The White Stripes. Still upset.) performed “Entitlement” off his latest album “Lazaretto” and “The Same Boy You’ve Always Known,” an old White Stripes song. The video was captured outside Paris at the Chateau de Foutainebleu’s Saint-Saturnin Chapel, showcasing the beautiful scenery and White’s emotional music.
  4. In honor of the Queen’s birthday, college student Ja-Niece Best emailed her professor to inform him that she would missing class on Sept. 4. She stated that “the Lord blessed us all with the goddess that is Queen Beyoncé Knowles-Carter” and that she would not be attending class out of respect. Good for her.
  5. “Paper Towns,” another John Green novel made-movie, will be hitting theaters sometime in the future. Jake Shreier will be taking the helm as the director of the project. Plus, Nat Wolff, who played Isaac in “The Fault In Our Stars” or who I like to remember as the hot one in The Naked Brothers Band, will play the protagonist Quentin.
  6. If you were stuck inside your house from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1, then you most likely turned to FXX to watch Every Simpsons Ever marathon. Don’t deny it. I definitely did. Well, because of the success, FXX executives have announced that “The Simpsons” is here to stay on the channel and they will be showing reruns “often four hours a night” according to “Times” magazine. I guess that means I’ll lose four hours a day now.
  7. Starting Sept. 1, Netflix will be adding a ton of new and exciting shows and movies to their already vast selection. New titles include “Silver Linings Playbook,” season six of “Parks and Recreation,” “School of Rock,” season four of “The Walking Dead,” season nine of “How I Met Your Mother,” “Crocodile Dundee” and few others.
  8. Images of the long-awaited Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt wedding have finally surfaced. They depict Jolie in a beautiful wedding gown with doodles from her children imprinted all over the veil. The dress itself was absolutely beautiful and the little drawings only made the ceremony more special and symbolic.
  9. In HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” we will be losing more characters. Fortunately, not to death. Bran Stark and Hodor, played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Kristian Nairn respectively, will not be making appearances in season 5. George R.R. Martin, author of the “Game of Thrones” series, has not continued their storyline but will presumably bring them back in the next book. Until then, the actors will be taking a brief hiatus and Nairn will continue his DJ career.
  10. Comedian Joan Rivers passed away Sept. 4 after going into cardiac arrest Aug. 28. Known for her caustic sense of humor, she paved the way for many women in comedy, inspiring women such as Rosanne Barr, Ellen Degeneres and Sarah Silverman. Her rough, abrasive wit will be greatly missed.
