The Top 5 Romance Films

Although Valentine’s Day may be over, there is no reason for the love of love to end, too. This is a collection of various genres of romance movies for both the single and coupled romantics.

Titanic

Category: Classic Romance

Leo. Deserved. An. Oscar. This love story will probably sink your heart as much as the ship, but it’s worth it.  Despite a few historical inaccuracies, it’s a quality film. The sets are just as elegant as the stars. This is probably the biggest ship of all time.

27 Dresses

Category: Cheesy Romance

Although it was a bit off-putting with the number of actors I recognized from other shows and movies, including Katherine Heigl as Jane Nichols, James Marsden as Kevin Doyle, Melora Hardin as Maureen and several others, this film is a good break from the overly-intimate  romances. The movie follows the story of Jane, the bridesmaid of 27 weddings. Jane has had the perfect wedding planned for years — but now it’s for her sister Tess (Malin Akerman), who has fallen in love with her crush and boss George (Edward Burns).

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Category: Rom-com

In this film, Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), a journalist at Composure magazine, wishes for the opportunity to write about bigger and better things than make-up and how-to’s, so she accepts a deal from her boss to write “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” in exchange for her journalistic freedom. Andie meets Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey), who has motives of his own: to get a girl to fall in love with him in 10 days as a bet. This film is one of the best rom-coms I’ve seen and might just give you some tips of your own.

Tangled

Category: Disney Romance

Out of all Disney movies, this one displays love in one of the best ways. A cute twist on the old tale, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), after being locked in a tower for 18 years, meets convict Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) when he climbs into her tower after stealing a crown. After making a deal with Flynn in exchange for his crown, the two embark on an adventure to go see the lights in the sky that Rapunzel has watched for years. Both the music and animation make this film one of the best Disney love stories yet.

Grease

Category: Movie Musical

Even if you didn’t have a Valentine, this movie might be the one for you-ou-ou. Basically the original “High School Musical,” when Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) meets Danny Zuko (John Travolta) in the summer, she has no idea they will meet again at Rydell High. However, their clashing groups, the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, present a problem in the romance they share. With its classic songs and cute 1950s setting, this is a film you’ll love.
