“The Finest Hours” is a movie based on a true story of a horrible storm splitting the SS Pendleton in two on Feb.18, 1952, leaving the crew helplessly lost in the ocean with a small amount of time before the ship sinks. When the news about the disaster reaches Bernie Webber, portrayed by Chris Pine, he is sent on a rescue mission with a small crew in the ocean to assist the ship and bring the sailors back on land hopefully alive. Webber and the ship’s engineer, Ray Sybert, portrayed by Casey Affleck, work together to stop the ship from sinking.

The actors’ incredible talent made the movie something special. Chris Pine does not fail to show off his dramatic action-filled acting skills as the storm worsens.

This movie is powerful with its strong graphic motion scenes as it makes you feel like you are in the movie. When there is a wave coming  it definitely feels like it will pop out.

There is a love story between Chris Pine and Holliday Grainger. Mariam (Holliday Grainger) struggles to let Webber go off to the ocean and risk his life as he attempts to rescue the sailors on the SS Pendleton. There love story got the audience rooting for Webber to be the hero he is and come back safely to Mariam.

The storytelling was well-organized with interesting details. It is a Disney movie, but it still manages to be terrifying and realistic. It cannot be watched by kids casually. ‘‘The Finest Hours’’ demonstrates humanity in a great way as the crew fights to save the sailor’s lives. The acting and directing is solid in the movie and the scenes in the water are magnificent . “‘The Finest Hours’” was really inspirational and heroic which made it extremely interesting and fun to watch. It was worth my time and it did not leave me bored with its perfect thrilling scenes.

Overall it was a great movie, but it took a long time until it reached worthy scenes. I would rate “The Finest Hours”an A-.
