Allen Eagle Volleyball Season Recap

Allen Volleyball has ended their season going 14-19 on the season.

The Eagles went 0-12 in district and were led by Senior Emily Janek and head coach Kelly Gregoriew, hoping to go far in the playoffs like they did last year.

[The] Team is continually working to better their Game.” Coach Gregoriew said. “Our defense is looking great and the ball control has continually been consistent. [They] get very close and battle to the very end.”

Compared to other Volleyball teams, this team is considerably younger with the majority being sophomores or freshman on the team with 10 out of the 19 players being underclassmen.

This team is different from other teams that I have played because it is a younger team. ” Emily said. “They are the same in that they love volleyball and have a bright future ahead of them!”

Janek and the Eagles volleyball team played their last game on October 23rd against Plano West at Plano. This was their last game because they didn’t make the playoffs this season.

“It is bittersweet because I am excited about playing at the college level,” Emily said. “But I love being a Lady Eagle and representing my school.”

Gregoriew is confident that this team will improve in years to come because of the underclassmen stepping up.

“Since the team is very young I expect great things from all of them.” Coach G says. “They have been working hard every practice and getting better. [They] should be a tough team to beat next year. “

Coach Gregoriew has much praise for this team and their competitive nature when facing their opposition throughout the season. Although the team hasn’t won any games in the district, shes still has high hopes for the team.

“Their willingness to come together as a group and continually battle is refreshing to see as a coach.” Coach G said. They are a fun and competitive group and very young.”

Although this season hasn’t gone to plan for Coach G, she is still very proud of the ladies that played and will remember this season.

“Things I will remember most about this season is the players drive to always be better.” Coach G said. “They are a fun and competitive group and [also] very young.”

The Volleyball team look to work hard over the offseason and improve on what they didn’t do so well this year and get even better next year.
