The Allen Eagles defeated the visiting Denton Guyer Wildcats 42-7 with a great offensive attack and a swarming defense. The Allen Eagles will improve to 7-0 while Denton Guyer falls to 5-2

The Allen offense was led by Mitchell Jonke and Grant Tisdale, who  threw for a combined 305 yards on 30 attempts and for two touchdowns. The dynamic duo of Kirby Bennett and Brock Surges racked up a combined 109 total yards and two touchdowns. Once the Eagles scored their first touchdown, they never relented the lead.

“The way we prepare is the best in the nation,” junior offensive Trey Stratford.“Its a group effort and we all push each other.”

Allen’s special team had another spectacular outing from Michael Ewton, who was a perfect six for six on extra points. Junior Carson Schleker had several great returns which gave the team great field position. In addition, the Eagles had several well placed punts that pinned the Wildcats back.

“The kids have really bought into special teams this year and it has paid off,” special teams coach J.D. Walker said. “It was an outstanding effort from the whole team in all phases.”

Allen’s defense played fantastically against the run, only allowing Guyer to have 174 yards on 48 attempts. With Denton Guyer having one of the best running backs in the nation in Noah Cain and being known as a ground and pound offense Allen’s defense did not flinch one bit. Along with a great run defense, Allen also had a phenomenal pass defense only allowing 74 yards and one completion. Allen’s defense has yet to give up more than 20 points in a single game this season.

“We’re more than a team,” said junior defensive back Alex  Schneider said. “We’re a family. When we work together we perform. ”
