Review: ‘Caracal’

Review%3A+Caracal

“Caracal,” Disclosure’s sophomore album, was released at the end of the summer, proving that the two-year gap between studio albums was well worth the wait.

Disclosure consists of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence, who since the success of their first album “Settle” have taken over the electronic music scene.  The duo quickly took to the studio to record their most recent album,“Caracal” and it doesn’t disappoint.

One of my favorite things about this group is their ability to include the most popular artists in their songs, but not let the music be overpowered by the stardom of the singers featured. The star filled album featured 10 artists such as Lorde, The Weeknd and Sam Smith all collaborating on tracks of their own.

“Caracal” starts off with an upbeat and super catchy song “Nocturnal” featuring The Weeknd, which proves to be one of the strongest tracks on the album. The detailed and intricate production of the album through its duration make this album work, proving that their sudden success is well earned. There’s a reason this duo has gained so much success without the records to show, and that is their ability to make each song sound uniquely different then the next one.

One track on this album stood out more then the rest. “Magnets” featuring Lorde, is a catchy tune almost guaranteed to be stuck in your head for the next week.

Only success seems to be in the future for Disclosure as more singles come out from the duo and as electronic music gains popularity.

I give this Album an A- due to its ability to keep me listening and apprehensive of the next song. You can tell in this album Disclosure put so much hard work and effort into making it, and that makes all the difference when choosing something to listen to. The only reason I can’t give it a perfect score is because I didn’t completely like every song included in the album but overall “Caracal” is definitely worth a listen.
