The Person Behind the Jersey

The “Person Behind The Jersey” is a series that focuses on getting to know the athletes at Allen deeper than what position they play. Meet junior Caden Young, a varsity baseball player.

What’s one thing you want people to know about you?

One thing I want people to know about me is that I’m super funny, I’m super smart and I’m really good at baseball.

What is your most embarrassing moment at Allen so far?

Most embarrassing moment was when I tripped and fell down five stairsteps in the stairwell in F-hall.

What’s the biggest obstacle you’ve had to face in your life?

Biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome is passing Algebra II last year, that was really hard. I failed and corrected every test, but I got through it.

What is your favorite class that you’re taking this year?

My favorite class other than baseball, would probably have to be floral design. […] It’s sort of like a free period, but we learn about flowers and stuff, it’s really cool.

What is the biggest red flag about yourself?

I talk about baseball too much.

Do you think there are more doors or wheels in the world?

There’s gotta be more doors in the world. No, actually there’s gotta be more wheels, because the conveyor belts in factories, those count as wheels.

What is your dream job?

A major league baseball player, but if that doesn’t work out I want to be a biologist.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can juggle for five seconds.

What do you want to major in in college?

Biology

What is your favorite and least favorite thing about Allen?

My favorite thing about Allen is the baseball team, because we have a good group of guys there. My least favorite thing is how the bathrooms are never clean.

What is your biggest goal in life?

Ultimate goal is to play in the major leagues and earn my pension, so I can get paid every year for the rest of my life.
