Eleven Nominees stood nervously on the illuminated stage, waiting to hear who this year’s Prom King and Queen will be. Anticipation filled the dark room as the DJ, J.P Gregoriew, presented proms 2016 king and queen, Macy Reynolds and Kevin Ptak.

Prom King: Kevin Ptak

Q) What was your initial reaction when they called your name?

      A) My initial reaction was a jump of surprise and joy. I remember throwing my hands up in the air and walking out to the center of the stage when my name was announced.

Q) Why did you decide to run for Prom King?

      A) I decided to run for Prom King because I thought it would be special to be the Prom King of Allen High, and because I figured that it would not hurt to run, even if I didn’t win.

Q) How does it feel to have won Prom King?

       A) It is an amazing feeling to say the least. It is extremely honoring to know that the majority of my senior class wanted me to be their Prom King.

Q) Can you describe the process of getting others to vote for you?

      A) The campaign process took a lot more effort than I had anticipated. I advertised myself primarily through social media. I also texted and direct messaged everyone I could think that I was related to as present and past classmates, my athletic teammates, friends and friends of friends asking them to vote for me. While reaching out to seniors I realized just how big the senior class was.

Q) What is your opinion on this year’s theme of Prom Royale 7?

      A) I thought this year’s theme was an incredible fit. I thought the decorations for the dance, such as the ice sculpture and the “007” sign, were awesome.

Q) What were your plans for after prom?

      A) After the dance, I went to the After Prom set up by the school. It was a blast playing all the games, gambling the fake money, and earning prizes throughout the night.

Q) Would you ever run again for Prom King if you could?

      A) If I could, I would run for Prom King again. It was an enlightening experience for me, and a lot of fun at the same time.

Q) Do you have anything to say to the other nominees?

      A) Yes. It was a pleasure running against all of you guys.

Q) Do you have anything else to add about Prom overall?

      A) I just want to say thank you to everyone that voted for me. It was a fun, unforgettable nights.

Prom Queen: Macy Reynolds

Q) What was your reaction when they called your name?

      A)Pure shock, I’m still surprised!

Q) Why did you decide to run for Prom Queen?

      A) I remember in elementary school telling people I wanted to be prom queen but that was just a dream. I never thought it would become a reality.

Q) How does it feel to have won Prom Queen.

      A) It feels surreal. I honestly didn’t think I would win. It all felt like something you see in a movie.

Q)   Can you describe the process of getting others to vote for you?

       A) The process for getting people to vote for me was teaming up with René Rodriguez  from the prom king court, we both got people to vote for each of us and we came together and passed out donuts and candy to voters.

Q) What is your opinion on this year’s theme of Prom Royale 7?

      A) The theme was amazing just because everyone knows who/what James Bond is about. The whole aesthetic of James Bond is sleek and elegant which I felt they executed well though the props, lighting and overall decorations at prom.

Q) What was your favorite song of the night?

      A) The only one I can remember is the song we had the first dance to, which was “With You” by Chris Brown.

Q) What were your plans for after prom?

      A) We had planned a party with close friends known as the “promlematic” function, but I slept. Prom is tiring.

Q) Would you ever run again for Prom Queen if you could?

      A) I would, the entire thing was such a good experience that brought me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to meet new seniors.

Q) Do you have anything to say to the other nominees?

      A) Everyone on court deserved a crown as they are all royalty. It was an honor to run with them.
