The Allen Eagle Wrestling Team took home another dual state title taking on four tough teams at Klein High School and bringing home an 8th dual state title for the year.

“We had the mindset coming to this tournament that we were out there for the big award, and that’s all that we thought about,” Sophomore Juwan Robinson said.

The Allen Eagles had a long road ahead of them before reaching the finals, having a bye their first round and having to go against El Paso Eastwood in their second round and Westlake for their third round.

“It was going to be a long wait for the team but they were determined to win at all cost,” Coach Jerry Best said. “We worked all year for this so I know that the wrestlers want the championship just as much as I do.”

The Eagles were able to put away Eastwood with a huge score of 61-9 and defeated Westlake with the score of 59-11. They faced Lake Highlands in the semifinals to advance to the title matches.

“We know we are prepared for this so I am looking forward to these matches because it is crucial that we win these next matches,” Senior Dalton Miller said.

With some resistance and tough matches, the Allen Eagles were able to sweep Lake Highlands with a score of 76-0 that put them in the finals against their rivals Arlington Martin for the title.

“This is the time that we all need to have our A game and stay focused,” Robinson said. “We can’t afford to mess up now. We have to go out there and finish the job that was started.”

After a long day of wrestling, the team beat Arlington Martin in a 42-24 lead that gave the eagles an 8th dual state title and becoming defending placers for eight years in a row.

“The process of getting the title was a tough one, I am not going to lie to you,” Robinson said. “But we came here on a mission, and we were able to pull it off and now we can celebrate our success.”
