Allen quarterback commits to Texas A&M
Coming off of two straight state championships, the nation’s top ranked dual-threat quarterback, junior Kyler Murray, committed Texas A&M earlier this afternoon. The announcement came during a press conference held in the Allen ISD Athletic Facility at 2:45 pm, less than seven hours before Murray takes the field for the 2014 spring game.
“I just felt I had all the information and I felt like it was right, so might as well do it,” Murray said. “It feels good.”
Both head coach Tom Westerberg and Murray’s father Kevin Murray graduated from A&M, with his father being a football alumni, but that did not play a factor in his decision according to Murray.
“I was going to go wherever I wanted to, but I think for all of the A&M fans it will be a big deal,” Murray said. “It will be a big deal for me too, but [my dad] didn’t play a part in it.”
With the offense in College Station focused more on the air raid, Murray said he felt more comfortable.
